25th October 2024
Our adventurous Y8s travelled to Migombani Camp, on the 9th of October, as part of their Senior Dragon Award Expedition.
Day one mainly consisted of travel and setting up. The journey was filled with tasty treats and catchy tunes. The kids arrived at the camp anxious to unpack and pitch their tents. They declined all help from the camp guides or their teachers, determined to get it done on their own. Once they ticked that box, off they went for a swim.
We had an early start on day two in preparation for the expedition part of the trip. We embarked on our 11km hike around the ‘Mto wa Mbu’ area. Along the trail, the kids enjoyed a cultural tour into the Makonde tribal trade of wood carving as well as the vast banana and rice plantations. The beautiful scenery distracted us from our tiring limbs and eventually everyones’ resilience paid off. We got back to camp and the kids enjoyed a well deserved swim. After dinner, the kids engaged in team building games and storytelling around a campfire. We topped the night off with some old fashioned marshmallow roasting.
We returned safely back to Arusha on the 11th of October with amazing moments to add to the memory bank.
Thank You Migombani for a great experience.
