To culminate their Science topic on Electricity, Year Four took a trip to Twende!
As part of our learning on the science topic of electricity, where the children learned about circuits, batteries, and generating energy. Year 4 enhanced their learning experience with a trip to Twende, where they built their own torches out of mostly recycled materials. The students were so proud of their soldering skills and went home with a deeper understanding of circuits and electricity.
Twende is a local enterprise located in Nane Nane, Njiro. It was established to identify local needs and engineer new technology solutions, empower entrepreneurs, offer business support and encourage local innovation. Twende provides the ‘Build It’ Workshop which is an educational workshop teaching practical skills to students by guiding them to build a specific product with locally sourced materials. This hands-on workshop allows students to apply scientific concepts that they have learnt in school to develop a better understanding of design and manufacturing while encouraging creativity and problem-solving.
Thank you to all at Twende for the collaboration - we look forward to returning!
