Year 5 Adventure to the Rift Valley

26th April 2017

Towards the end of last term all Year 5 students, together with their teachers, enjoyed a 3 night 4 day camping in Karatu.

The trip was linked to what the children had been learning in their topic on The African Rift Valley and its tribes. It was also the Expedition assessment for their Junior Dragon Silver Level.

It was quite an exciting experience for the children as they got to bond with each other out of school; they enjoyed a game drive at the Manyara National Park, had a picnic lunch and got muddy at Lake Eyasi, visited the Hadzabe, Iraqw and Datoga villages and learned firsthand about their customs and culture.

Even the rains on the last night of the expedition could not dull the moment, as the children presented a fantastic talent show to crown the whole journey. We were all left yearning to see even more of the Rift Valley.
