As the academic year draws to a close, our Year 6 students embarked on their long-awaited residential trip to Fish Eagle Point, Tanga—a truly memorable experience and the final adventure in their Junior Dragon Award journey. The trip not only marked the end of primary school but also celebrated the spirit of determination, courage and teamwork that these students have shown throughout the year.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Tanzania’s northern coastline, Fish Eagle Point offered the perfect environment for adventure, challenge and reflection. With clear turquoise waters, unspoilt beaches, and a warm, welcoming camp, it provided an ideal location to embrace nature and connect with each other one last time as a primary school class.
From the outset, the students threw themselves into every activity with energy and enthusiasm. Kayaking through mangroves was a test of both balance and stamina. As the sun beat down, teams paddled in sync, navigating winding channels with grit and determination. Even those who had never held a paddle before showed incredible confidence and teamwork as they encouraged one another along the way.
Snorkelling was another highlight—after some initial nerves about the open water, students were soon diving under the waves, marvelling at colourful coral and darting fish. The joy on their faces as they shared their discoveries was unforgettable. It was a clear reminder of how far they’ve come, not just in skill, but in courage and trust in themselves and each other.
One of the more adventurous challenges was exploring the local cave system—a thrilling descent into the unknown. Armed with a sense of curiosity, the class worked together to navigate the cool, echoing spaces, ducking under low ceilings and squeezing through narrow passages. It wasn’t just about physical bravery—it took problem-solving, communication and trust.
Throughout the trip, students showed exactly why they have earned their Junior Dragon Award. Whether they were tackling new challenges or supporting one another through tricky moments, they did so with maturity, resilience and good humour. The campsite became a place of shared stories, laughter and quiet reflection—moments that will no doubt stay with them for years to come.
As we waved goodbye to Fish Eagle Point, it was clear this was more than just a school trip. It was a celebration of how far each child has come, a chance to cement friendships, and a powerful send-off to their time in the primary school. We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved—and as they move on to their next chapter, we know they’re ready for whatever adventure comes next.
