In our Primary classrooms, science isn't just about memorising facts – it's about uncovering the wonders of the world through hands-on investigation. We use the rigorous UK National Curriculum as our foundation, carefully adapting it to our unique international school context. This ensures our learners gain the essential scientific knowledge and skills to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
We believe science should be an adventure! Children learn best by asking questions, designing experiments, and getting their hands involved. Whether they're recreating the water cycle to better understand evaporation and condensation or building circuits to understand electricity, our students are empowered to be active learners. This enquiry-based approach aligns directly with the UK National Curriculum's focus on developing scientific thought processes.
Science extends beyond the traditional lab setting! We integrate scientific exploration with other subjects. While learning about forces, students might build and test model bridges, applying their knowledge in an engineering challenge. While learning about habitats and eco-systems, students create dioramas filled with facts about the food chain and different landscapes. This cross-curricular approach reinforces concepts and shows students the interconnectedness of knowledge.
Every year, we enjoy Science Week, a school initiative that fuels our students' passion for discovery. It's the perfect time for our young scientists to show what they know at our exciting science fair! With projects proudly displayed, they engage with the whole school community and inspire others with their love for the subject. Look out for it in Term 3.
Our skills-based, enquiry-driven approach is about much more than good grades. We're building a generation of critical thinkers, curious minds, and creative problem-solvers. By equipping our students with scientific literacy, we prepare them to understand the world and shape the future, no matter where their paths lead.
